MCZ staff – Running jobs

We have created a special group for MCZ staff to allow them to run jobs with proper accounting in place. This group is managed by Brendan Haley and will require a couple of steps in order to be able to submit cluster jobs under it. You will need an existing FASRC account to do so.

  1. Request membership (aka Grant) in the mczcompute_lab group via the Portal
    1. Type mcz in the search box and you will see an option that begins with ‘Special lab group to allow MCZ staff…’ Click the box to select this grant.
    2. If you also see ‘FASRC cluster access, including Slurm job submission’ this means you do not have cluster access currently. Click the box to also select this grant.
    3. In the Add Grants popup window, click ‘Request Selected’
  2. Your request will need to be approved by Brendan before proceeding.
  3. Once you receive a confirmation email that you have been added, please email rchelp@rc.fas.harvard.edu and say
I have been approved for access to run MCZ compute jobs. Please change my default group to mczcompute_lab . Please ensure I remain a member of whatever group was previously my primary group.
  4. Once FASRC replies that this is complete, you will be able to submit jobs. Our documentation contains many helpful articles on this and other topics: FASRC DOCS

For additional information or guidance, please reach out to Brendan Haley.
